Because Aurora and Snow White are so helpless through so much of their narratives, this magnetic sleep doesn’t typically read as an act of power. ![]() Part of the mysticism of those fairy tales is that, even in sleep, these princesses are perfect and mesmerizing enough to draw their true loves in. Especially since Kara is almost certainly in pain here. Tying Kara, a symbol of active power, to an image of such still helplessness, captured my imagination. To me, Kara lying on an elevated platform with her arms crossed over her torso and her hair loose behind her is incredibly evocative of the classic Disney animated version of Sleeping Beauty (with a bit of Snow White). I actually had a couple panels to choose from that had similar imagery to what I really want to talk about. Kara is weak and in pain, and monsters surround them.
